Not Crying Over Spilled Milk

Well, to say August has been a rough month for me (as far as work is concerned) would be a true statement.  I closed one deal (a small one).   In the last week I had 3 deals fall apart (two of them today).  This morning I met a client at a house that was recently listed and moments before we got there (for a scheduled appointment mind you) the seller signed an offer.

So what's a girl to do?  Hop in the pool with my daughter and relax.  After all, it wasn't anything I did.  And what can I change about the situation at this point?  All I can do now is try to help them find a new house to try to buy. But first, a little down time with the family before my life gets hectic again.

Rockin' It

Have you ever had one of those days where you felt like your wheels were spinning and you were just getting nowhere?  Yeah, me too.  In fact, it seems like I've had a lot of them lately.

Today however was not one of those days.  Today, I had a great day.  Don't get my wrong, I was busy, but I felt like I accomplished a lot of things.  I made contact with a new client who seems very serious about buying soon (yay!).  I worked on organizing the accounting work I've just started working on.

And the thing that made my day... spending time with each of my kids.  I helped my daughter work on a lapbook we put aside a long time ago.  And my son and I spent some time reading about the history of robots.  And of course I had to see his most recent computer program in action.

Today I realized two things about myself:

1. I like to work under pressure and
2. There is no greater feeling of accomplishment than spending time with my kids (even if it means something else gets put off till after they are in bed).  After all, who doesn't like it when their kids tell them "You rock!"

Day of Relaxation

Today, I decided to live by my rule that Sunday is a day of rest.  No, I did not take a nap (although I thought about it).  Rather, today has been a day spent chilling with my kiddos.  We watched a movie and I got in a little cross stitching.  I think the next thing we'll do is to bake something and after that, read them one of the books we got from the library the other day.  For me that is relaxation.  Especially when you sit down and enjoy the fruits of your labors while reading a good book.

I have a lengthy list of things I want / need to get done soon, but it's going to wait till tomorrow.  Today I'm going to rest and relax.
